What is GPT Image 2.5 Flare
Flare is the second variant of GPT Image 2.5, released on September 8, 2026, together with Sunburst. OpenAI calls it its fastest model for high-quality, everyday image generation. It takes text and images as input and returns an image.
The endpoints are the same as for Sunburst: /v1/images/generations for new images and /v1/images/edits for changing existing ones; /v1/chat/completions isn't supported. You get quality levels from low to max (auto by default), transparent backgrounds in PNG and WebP and, according to OpenAI's docs, sizes up to 3840 pixels per edge — anything larger than 2560×1440 is labelled experimental.
