GPT-6 Sol API price
Current price in US dollars — the same as on the pricing page. Pay in USDT, pay as you go, no subscription.
| model | input $ / 1M | output $ / 1M |
|---|---|---|
| gpt-6-sol | $2.40 cache read $0.24 >272K: $4.80 | $12.00 >272K: $18.00 |
Input is the regular price of input tokens, “cache read” is the price of input tokens served from the prompt cache, output is the price of output tokens. The price in your account may be lower.
The grey “>272K” line is the vendor’s official tier for long prompts: when a prompt exceeds the threshold, the whole request is billed at that tier.
What is GPT-6 Sol
GPT-6 Sol was released on September 22, 2026, together with GPT-6 Luna. OpenAI says it is built to power complex coding and agentic workflows. It accepts text and images and replies in text; the context window is 1.05M tokens (up to 922K of input), responses run up to 128K, and its knowledge goes up to April 20, 2026. OpenAI now points to GPT-6.1 Sol as the newer Sol model and names GPT-6 Sol as the replacement for gpt-5.1 and gpt-5.3-codex, which shut down on April 1, 2027.
Unlike GPT-6.1 Sol, this model has a none reasoning level: reasoning effort ranges from none to max, medium by default. With none, the model answers without a reasoning step, and according to OpenAI's docs this is the only mode in which function calling works in Chat Completions; for tools combined with reasoning, use the Responses API (/v1/responses). At any level above none, remove temperature, top_p, logprobs and top_logprobs from your requests. If the input is longer than 272K tokens, the whole request is billed at the higher tier, just as with OpenAI.

What it’s good for
- Coding and coding agents
- Chat Completions integrations that need tools (with reasoning effort none)
- Moving off gpt-5.1 and gpt-5.3-codex before they shut down
- Long documents and large codebases — up to 922K input tokens
When another model is a better fit
- GPT-6.1 Sol — The newer Sol model: it always reasons, and its cache reads are cheaper on OpenAI's price list
- GPT-6 Luna — The smallest GPT-6 model — for simple tasks at high volume
