What is DeepSeek Flash
DeepSeek Flash is served under the ID deepseek-flash; the current version is 1017. DeepSeek says that compared with the previous Flash it scores higher on benchmarks, finishes tasks faster and gives shorter outputs, and that it is tuned for agent harnesses and end-to-end project building.
It is a hybrid model: it thinks by default, you can switch thinking off with thinking: {type: disabled} and set depth with effort (low, high or max). Unlike DeepSeek V4 Pro, it accepts images (JPEG, PNG, GIF, WebP), and it supports tool calls and JSON output.
